Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park – Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos





Saturday night, an unapproved gathering of a large crowd at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were in the process of clearing the area.

How Events Unfolded

At around 6:30 PM on April 18, the SCSO was notified involving people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park. A follow-up call indicated a potential fight and people leaving the area quickly.

Aerial units was called in and swept the area but was unable to locate an active fight.

However, several hundred people had assembled at the location for what officials called an unsanctioned event. Deputies positioned themselves around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse using public address systems.

As officers worked to clear the park, upwards of 20 gunshots were discharged — triggering a panicked crowd in panic.

Shooting Victims

Four victims — a female and three male victims, all believed to be in their 20s — website were brought to area medical facilities. Two were more info treated for immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and assisted with triage on scene.

The Crime Scene

The incident occurred on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot was briefly placed on lockdown. Further shell casings were recovered from Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fence bordering the nearby Home Depot — pointing to shots fired check here in a southward direction from along Cottage Way toward the store. The Suspect Vehicle

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was indicated that a vehicle connected to the shooting — a Kia — was pulled over in the Solano County area with four individuals detained. Sacramento County website Sheriff's units were en route to collect the suspects and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Video confirmed two separate shooters.
